Man dies in head-on Placer County crash, CHP says

A man was killed in a head-on vehicle collision in Placer County on Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP said a Toyota Camry, driven by a 61-year-old Lincoln man, was headed westbound on Nicolaus Road at the same time a Tesla Model 3 was headed eastbound. Officials said preliminary evidence suggests the Toyota crossed over double yellow lines and entered the opposite side of the road, crashing into the Tesla and causing the Toyota driver's death. According to CHP, there were no witnesses to say conclusively which vehicle crossed the center line, and both details have been retained as evidence for the ongoing investigation. Detectives will conduct a data download from the Tesla and inspect both vehicles as part of the investigation, CHP said.
