Man dies following motorcycle crash on Carsley Road in Surry County
SURRY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY)-- A Waverly man has died following a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in Surry County Sunday afternoon. According to Virginia State Police, 29-year-old Steve A. Smallwood was travelling southbound on Carlsey Road, near Route 40, on a 2020 white Suzuki 750 motorcycle. Police say Smallwood went off to the left side of the road, attempted to correct himself then went off to the right side of the road and struck a ditch. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died. Police say the crash remains under investigation.
