Man charged with fatal drunk-driving crash on I-480
TWINSBURG, Ohio (WJW) -- Police have arrested a Streetsboro man accused of driving drunk and causing a three-vehicle crash that killed one person on Interstate 480 on Tuesday night, March 17. Officers responded just after 9 p.m. to the area near mile marker 37 on the interstate for a report of a crash involving multiple vehicles, according to a Wednesday Facebook post. That's near the Darrow Road exit. A preliminary investigation indicated an SUV failed to yield when getting on the highway, striking a sedan that was headed east, according to the post. The collision caused the sedan to roll onto its roof. A second eastbound vehicle then struck the sedan, rolling it back onto its wheels. A 22-year-old Salem man who was in the back seat of the sedan was thrown from the vehicle, according to the post. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police at the scene arrested Steven Neff, 37, of Streetsboro. He now faces one felony count of aggravated vehicular homicide, three felony counts of aggravated vehicular assault and misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failing to stop at a sidewalk and reckless operation, Stow Municipal Court records show. Neff was set for arraignment in the city court on Wednesday afternoon. The crash remains under investigation.
