Man charged with deadly pedestrian-involved crash in East Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A pedestrian was killed Tuesday after a truck crossed into oncoming traffic and onto a sidewalk in East Nashville, according to court documents. Metro police officers were called at approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday to the 400 block of Woodland Street after reports that a black Ford pickup truck struck a pedestrian and multiple parked vehicles, reports said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck was reportedly heading outbound on Woodland Street toward Interstate Drive when it drifted into oncoming traffic, over a curb, and struck the pedestrian on the sidewalk. The truck continued to drive through a fence and crashed into four vehicles. Witnesses at the scene told investigators the truck was traveling at a "very high" speed prior to the crash. The Ford driver, Antwaine McBee, 45, told investigators he took medication and smoked marijuana prior to the incident. He could not recall the events leading up to him being extricated from his vehicle by first responders after the crash, documents said. McBee was booked into Metro Jail on charges of felony vehicular homicide by intoxication and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. His bond was set at $75,000.
