Man charged with 3 counts of murder in Pomona crash that killed pregnant woman, boyfriend
A 31-year-old man has been charged with three counts of murder in a crash that killed a pregnant woman and her boyfriend in Pomona. He's been identified as Pomona resident Marshall Campbell Judson. On April 1, at approximately 10:11 p.m., Pomona police officers were responding to a domestic violence call when the suspect allegedly returned to the residence and began driving aggressively past two patrol cars. Judson reportedly reversed directly into one of the patrol cars, narrowly missing an officer and the resident who made the call. He then allegedly fled through a residential neighborhood in his vehicle, reaching speeds up to 100 mph in a 35 mph zone, blowing through stop signs, making unsafe turns and briefly crossing the double yellow lines entering opposing lanes of traffic, according to Los Angeles County DA Nathan Hochman. After leaving the neighborhood and entering the intersection of Garey Avenue and County Road, Judson broadsided a car driven by 26-year-old Marc Trejo Saldivar, according to police. Saldivar's girlfriend, 25-year-old Jennifer Loera Zarco, was a passenger in the car. Both were pronounced dead following the crash. Loera Zarco was nine months pregnant at the time of the crash, with a due date of April 20. Judson was arrested at the scene. A loaded unlicensed firearm and ammunition were reportedly found in his vehicle. According to Hochman, Judson was charged with three counts of murder, three counts of fleeing a pursuing peace officer's motor vehicle causing death, one count of assault with a deadly weapon upon a peace officer, and one count of carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, loaded and not registered. At a hearing April 6, Judson’s arraignment was continued to April 28 in Department N of the Pomona Courthouse. No bail was set. If convicted as charged, Judson faces 57 years to life in state prison. “The senseless death of a young couple just weeks away from the birth of their first child is heartbreaking and enraging,” Hochman said. “Jennifer Loera Zarco and Marc Trejo Saldivar had their whole lives ahead of them. Now, instead of planning celebrations to welcome a newborn, their families are planning funerals. I extend my deepest sympathies to the victims’ families and their entire community devastated by this enormous loss. Our office will prove these charges in court and seek the maximum possible sentence to ensure accountability.”
