Man charged in connection to deadly Laurens County four-car crash

(WSPA) -- A man is accused of leaving the scene of a deadly four-car crash in Laurens County, officials announced Friday. South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on April 11, at mile marker 53 on I-26 East near Clinton. Officials said a Ford pickup truck and a 2014 Kia sedan were traveling on the roadway when the Kia hit the truck. The truck then crossed the median, overturned, and struck two vehicles traveling west. One driver who was hit was taken to the hospital for her injuries, where she died Tuesday. She was identified as 25-year-old Trinitee Hunter of Spartanburg. State troopers said the Kia driver, 34-year-old Bishawn Bell of North Charleston, was arrested. He has been charged with felony hit-and-run involving death, two counts of felony hit-and-run involving great bodily injury, hit-and-run involving an attended vehicle, and two counts of striking fixtures on a highway and failure to report. Bell remains at the Laurens County Detention Center without bond.
