Man charged for 2024 fatal hit and run crash in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Police have issued a warrant for a man in a two-year-old hit-and-run cold case. Police say in 2024, Christopher Cordova was using a crosswalk along Yale Blvd. and Central Ave. when a red Mercedes sped through a red light and struck Cordova, killing him. The driver fled the scene. The case went cold until earlier this year, when officers were called to a domestic dispute where they learned that Isaiah Perez admitted to hitting someone with his car years ago. Officers then used Perez's phone data from 2024 and were able to link Perez to the location. Perez is facing homicide by vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident charges.
