Man, 23, dies after Tesla swerves into tree in Berks County; driver believed to be DUI

A 23-year-old who was seriously injured after crashing into a tree early Sunday morning has died from his injuries, troopers wrote in an update. Keenan Cryts, 23, was taken to a trauma center following the crash that happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday on Bernville Road. He suffered serious injuries, troopers said, and around 11:19 p.m. Sunday, Cryts passed away at Reading Hospital. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Pottsville, is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to state police. It’s believed that the driver was wearing a seatbelt, but Cryts was not. Pennsylvania State Police, local fire and EMS providers, the Berks County Coroner’s Office, and the Berks County District Attorney’s Office all responded to the incident. State police have not yet released the name of the driver or announced any charges.
