Maine woman killed as car crashes into tree, sheriff says
A Maine woman is dead after the car she was driving crashed into a tree in the town of Sumner, according to authorities.Teresa Palmer, 65, of Rumford, was identified as the victim of Friday's crash along Greenwoods Road.Oxford County Sheriff Christopher Wainwright said the county's Regional Communications Center was notified about the crash at about 8 a.m., and that sheriff's deputies and members of the Sumner Fire Department and Buckfield Rescue Department responded to the scene.First responders found that a 2022 Kia Forte had drifted left over the center line and driven off the road and into a tree.Palmer, the driver and only person in the car, was found dead at the scene, according to Wainwright.The crash remains under investigation. Wainwright asked anyone who saw the car traveling on the road before the crash to call the Oxford County Sheriff's Office at 207-743-9554.
