Maine DOT workers struck by minivan in fatal incident on I-95 bridge
Two Maine Department of Transportation employees tragically lost their lives in a devastating accident on I-95 in Waterville this Tuesday. The workers were knocked off a bridge by a minivan, resulting in their untimely deaths. Maine State Police reported that the crash occurred at a bridge construction site where the minivan failed to obey a stop sign and was subsequently hit by a tractor-trailer on the southbound lane of the highway. This collision caused the minivan to veer into the work zone, striking three workers, two of whom were thrown off the bridge. Regrettably, the workers, identified as James Brown and Dwayne Campbell of Waterville, succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Another worker suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized. The driver of the minivan and her two children were unharmed, while the truck driver also escaped injury. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities have not yet made any charges in connection with the accident. The southbound section of the highway was temporarily closed for investigation but partially reopened by early afternoon.
