Lee crash causes fuel spill, lane closures
A crash has caused the closure of a section of the Mass. Pike in Russell with the westbound side shut down from mile marker 34. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has directed traffic to Exit 41 in Westfield, and the westbound on-ramp in Westfield is also closed. MassDOT predicts the closure to last for several hours. In Lee, a jackknifed tractor-trailer is leaking fuel, resulting in the closure of the right and breakdown lanes on the westbound side near mile marker 11.6. Due to poor weather conditions, the speed limit on the Mass. Pike has been reduced to 40 MPH, and special permitted vehicles or tandem trucks cannot travel from the New York State line to mile marker 59 in Ludlow.
