Lawsuit filed in fatal 2025 Will Rogers Turnpike crash involving OTA worker
OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. — The widow of a man killed while working on the Will Rogers Turnpike sues those involved in the crash. Daniella Rinehart's husband, Zachary, died on August 18 of last year when he was struck by a semi on I-44 in Ottawa County. Authorities have charged the driver of that truck - David Carlson - with first-degree manslaughter in the case. Rinehart filed the lawsuit last week, asking for more than $75,000 in actual damages, plus unspecified punitive damages. She is suing Carlson, the company he worked for, LVT Trucking, the shipping company Unarco, and Class Eight Leasing, the company that owned the trailer Carlson was hauling. The lawsuit accuses the trucking company of repeated violations of Department of Transportation standards. It also accuses them of negligence in their hiring, training and supervision practices. The petition also paints Carlson as a careless, reckless and incompetent driver. Carlson, who lives in Texas, failed to appear at his last court appearance in Ottawa County. The judge has given him and his attorney until July 14 to appear, or a bench warrant would be issued for Carlson's arrest.
