Las Vegas police investigate fatal pedestrian crash on East Flamingo near Topaz
Las Vegas police are investigating a vehicle-pedestrian crash that left a 42-year-old man with life-threatening injuries Saturday night on East Flamingo Road. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the collision happened about 9:14 p.m. on East Flamingo Road east of South Topaz Street. Investigators said evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate the pedestrian was crossing East Flamingo Road from south to north outside of a marked or unmarked crosswalk when he entered the path of a westbound 2013 Lexus ES350. Police said the Lexus, driven by a 72-year-old man, struck the pedestrian with the front of the vehicle, projecting him in a western direction. The pedestrian came to rest in the westbound travel lanes, police said. The driver stopped on the side of the roadway and called 9-1-1, police said. Medical personnel took the pedestrian to Sunrise Trauma for advanced medical intervention, and he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for continuous treatment, police said. The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said. The crash remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
