Lancaster County father pleads guilty in farming accident that killed young daughter

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- A father pleaded guilty to a felony charge of endangering the welfare of children filed in the death of his two-year-old daughter, who died in a farming accident two years ago. Online court records show Anthony Nolt, 35, of Bainbridge, was sentenced to spend five years on probation following his March 31 guilty plea. Nolt was placed on house arrest for 9 months and must perform 100 hours of community service, preferably something about farm safety. Nolt was charged by Susquehanna Regional Police in February 2025 following an investigation into his daughter's death in July 2024. Maria Nolt died at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center after falling from an observation platform of a mixer being pulled by a tractor being operated by another child, and was struck by a piece of farming equipment. Police said that Anthony was not watching Maria and was about 20 to 50 feet away operating a skid loader when the accident happened. In court documents, police noted how the tractor and mixer have a combined weight of 16,395 pounds. A booklet about farm safety for children was also given to investigators by the Nolt family.
