Knoxville Police: Motorcyclist dead after ‘serious crash’ on Clinton Highway

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knoxville Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Saturday morning. Around 8:25 a.m., Knoxville Police Officers responded to the crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Clinton Highway at Treemont Drive. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as a 22-year-old man, suffered severe head trauma in the crash. Knoxville Police said he was taken to UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead after arrival. The other involved vehicle remained at the scene. Knoxville Police said it's crash reconstruction personnel are leading the investigation, which is ongoing and in the early stages. Just before 9 a.m. Saturday, Knoxville Police posted on social media that officers were on the scene of a crash. Knoxville Police said traffic was impacted in the area and advised drivers to seek alternate routes. Just after 11 a.m., KPD said all lanes of Clinton Highway had reopened.
