Judge weighing request to release suspect's medical records in Forsyth County deputy crash case

A judge is deciding whether to release the medical records of the suspect charged in connection with the vehicle crash that killed a Forsyth County Sheriff's deputy in March.Nineteen-year-old Bryan Castillo is facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, reckless driving, speeding, and driving left out of the center. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, on March 7, Deputy Mitchell was on his way to relieve a fellow deputy when he was struck by a Chevy pickup truck at the intersection of Grubbs Road and Highway 311. Investigators said Castillo was the driver of the truck. The State Highway Patrol said the 19-year-old was driving at least 100 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone.Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking here According to court documents, the District Attorney's office is requesting the medical records and a blood sample from the treatment that Castillo received after the crash.But Castillo's defense team is asking the judge to deny this request.
