Johnstown Rd. in Chesapeake closed after serious crash
CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Johnstown Road in Chesapeake is currently closed in both directions, between Britwell Drive and Parker Road, following a fatal crash. A traffic alert from the city at 10 a.m. Friday said there is no estimated time when the road will reopen. Chesapeake Police were called to the scene in the 400 block of Johnstown Rd. at 9:49 a.m. Police said their preliminary investigation determined a sedan speeding southbound on Johnstown Road hit an SUV turning onto Johnstown Rd. from Britwell Dr. The collision caused the sedan to run off the road, striking a landscaper working in the area. The landscaper died. The drivers of both vehicles went to the hospital with minor injuries, police said. WAVY viewer David Matherne provided this image of the scene.
