ISP: Person airlifted after crash involving semi, 2 vehicles on I-70 WB in Wayne County

WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. -- All westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Wayne County are currently shut down after a crash involving a semi and two vehicles. According to an INDOT Traffic Management Center notification, the crash initially closed the eastbound and westbound lanes near the 146-mile marker. This area is just east of the North Centerville Road intersection. As of 7 p.m., officials have reopened the eastbound lanes while they work to reopen the westbound lanes eventually. Indiana State Police said westbound traffic is being diverted at the 149-mile marker. Motorists are being urged to seek an alternate route if passing through the area. ISP told FOX59/CBS4 that the crash involved a semi and two passenger vehicles. The impact of the collision caused the semi to catch fire. ISP confirmed the crash resulted in two individuals being transported from the scene to area hospitals, with one of them airlifted for emergency treatment. As of this article's publication, their conditions have not been provided. All westbound lanes are expected to remain closed for the next four hours as emergency crews process the scene for evidence and continue cleaning up.
