Investigation Update on Thibodaux Crash Injuring Two Children
The Louisiana State Police are currently investigating a severe accident in Thibodaux that injured two children on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred on Talbot Avenue close to Meadows Circle in Lafourche Parish. One of the children injured has been identified as 12-year-old Ja'Coby Garner, who is currently undergoing surgery for a femur injury. The crash involved a 2013 Honda Accord and a 2004 Chevrolet Impala traveling northbound. The Chevrolet, attempting to overtake other vehicles, entered a no-passing zone in the southbound lane, lost control, and collided with the Honda. The impact caused the Chevrolet to veer off the road, striking Garner and another child who had just disembarked from a school bus. Both children were transported to hospitals outside Lafourche Parish and are still receiving medical care. The individuals in the Chevrolet and Honda were also injured and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, according to state police. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
