Investigation underway into fatal crash in Cape Vincent

Last night, New York State Police were called to a lone car accident in Cape Vincent, N.Y. The incident occurred at the crossing of State Route 12E and County Route 8 at approximately 9:32 p.m. on November 29. Reportedly, a 2024 GMC Yukon Denali was traveling east on State Route 12E when the driver, a 54-year-old man who was the only person in the vehicle, failed to navigate a curve and went off the road's south side. Despite attempting to regain control, the man hit a culvert, causing the car to veer and ultimately come to a halt at the road's edge, having collided with an embankment near the intersection. Tragically, the driver was thrown from the car and died on-site. The investigation is still in progress. Assisting authorities were Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Service, Clayton Fire Department, and Cape Vincent EMS and Fire Department.
