Investigation launched into deadly accident on Burlington Road
The Greensboro police are currently investigating a deadly accident on Burlington Road. The incident occurred on Saturday morning at the intersection of Burlington Road and Buchanan Church Road. It was determined that a GMC Acadia crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Kia Sorento. Unfortunately, the driver of the Kia, Rodney Charles Delorenzo, aged 60, lost his life in the crash. The driver of the GMC, Karl Earl Cheek, aged 39, sustained injuries and is being treated in the hospital. Cheek is facing charges of driving while impaired and traveling on the wrong side of the road. Once he is discharged from the hospital, he will be issued a warrant for felony death by vehicle in connection with the accident. The Greensboro police emphasize that the investigation is ongoing.
