Firefighters reported that a wrong-way crash on Interstate 495 in Mansfield, Massachusetts left two individuals seriously injured on Sunday around 2:20 a.m. The Massachusetts State Police were alerted when a driver was seen traveling north on the southbound side of I-495. Multiple witnesses then called 911 to report a head-on collision. State police and local responders from Mansfield quickly arrived at the scene, where both cars involved were heavily damaged and the airbags had deployed. One driver was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries, while the condition of the other driver was not disclosed. The left travel lane was reopened around 3 a.m. after investigation by State Police CARS and Crime Scene Services, with assistance from MassDOT for traffic control.
