Inclement weather causing numerous accidents in Mid-Michigan
UPDATE: The crashes near Okemos have been resolved as of 12:55 p.m. In the Mid-Michigan region, multiple accidents are causing road closures, as reported by the Michigan Department of Transportation. Two crashes on I-96 near Brighton have resulted in the closure of all eastbound lanes and partial closure of westbound lanes. The first crash was reported at 11:07 a.m., blocking all eastbound traffic lanes. Following this, the second crash occurred about a mile west of the first crash, obstructing the right lane and shoulder of westbound I-96 near Brighton. The westbound crash was reported at 11:23 a.m. Freezing temperatures and snowfall are anticipated throughout Michigan this week. Meteorologist Katie Nickolaou from 6 News predicts dangerously cold air returning on Thursday, with a possibility of lake effect snow. Wind chills could reach -20° or lower by the week's end.
