Incident with train and dump truck in Anderson Co.
Three sanitation workers in Williamston were injured in a collision between their garbage truck and a train on Friday morning. The incident occurred on Prince Street close to Sullivan Street around 9:30 a.m. Mayor Rockey Burgess confirmed that all three workers sustained severe injuries but were expected to survive. One worker was airlifted to a hospital as a precautionary measure. The South Carolina Highway Patrol will lead the investigation into the accident. It was noted that the railway crossing lacks safety features like stop arms or flashing lights. Initially, the Anderson County Coroner's Office incorrectly stated that one victim had died, later clarifying that the individual was unresponsive. Updates on the situation will be provided as new details emerge.
