IMPD: Juvenile struck during 2-vehicle crash on Indy’s near southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS -- A juvenile was struck following a crash involving two vehicles on Indy's near southeast side on Wednesday afternoon. Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Southeast District were dispatched around 4:32 p.m. to the intersection of E. Raymond Street and S. State Avenue after dispatch received a report that a personal injury accident had occurred in the area. IMPD said police arrived on the scene and located a 16-year-old pedestrian who detectives believe was struck by one of the two vehicles involved in the accident. While the juvenile's exact condition was not provided, police said they were suffering from "non-life-threatening injuries." The juvenile and an adult driver of one of the vehicles were transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. IMPD has not provided the driver's condition. At this time, an IMPD accident investigator remains on the scene as police investigate the circumstances that led to this crash. As of this article's publication, the intersection is expected to be shut down for several more hours as investigators collect evidence.
