IDENTIFIED: Driver in Hwy 41 crash that left 5 dead

KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Officials have released the name of one of the victims who died in a crash that killed a total of five people in Kings County over the weekend. According to the California Highway Patrol, the five people were killed on Highway 41, near York Avenue, in Kings County on Sunday morning. So far, only the driver of one of the vehicles has been identified by officials: 35-year-old Jose Ramos of Oakdale, who died at the scene. CHP says the crash took place when a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was going southbound on Highway 41, south of York Avenue. At the same time, a white 2022 Toyota Prius was heading northbound on Highway 41. Investigators say the driver of the Chevrolet was passing slower-moving traffic and crashed head-on into the Prius. The Prius was being driven by 35-year-old Jose Ramos of Oakdale. After the crash, the Chevrolet overturned and was engulfed in flames, killing the driver and three passengers. The identities of people in the Chevrolet have not been officially released.
