Identification of victim in deadly collision between school bus and pickup truck.
A tragic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Yazoo County involving a school bus and a driver, resulting in the loss of Philip Williams, age 63, from Yazoo City. The collision took place at the intersection of Highway 49 and Highway 433 in Bentonia around 3:18 p.m. The victim, driving a dark GMC Canyon north on Highway 49, collided with a school bus traveling west on Highway 433, causing the pickup truck to overturn multiple times. Despite the school bus being occupied by two students and the driver, fortunately, none sustained injuries. Williamson, the driver of the GMC Canyon, tragically passed away at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. As investigations continue, the Sheriff’s Office expressed heartfelt sympathy to the victim’s family and friends.
