Idaho State Police investigating fatal motorcycle crash in Oneida County
ONEIDA COUNTY, Idaho (ABC4) — One person is dead following a motorcycle crash just north of Malad City. According to Idaho State Police, the crash involved only one vehicle, the motorcycle, and it happened around 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26. The crash was just north of Malad City on Deep Creek Road near 110 West. The victim is a 55-year-old man from Preston, Idaho. He was riding a 2015 Harley Davidson FLTRX northbound on Deep Creek Road, and he failed to safely negotiate a curve. He ran off the roadway and crashed, and he died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. Idaho State Police are actively investigating the incident. Police did not provide any additional identifying information about the victim, and they did not indicate whether any factors such as speed or impairment are suspected in the crash. Idaho State Police has provided the following tips to stay safe on the road. If alcohol or other impairing substances are involved, it's important to plan ahead and never drive when impaired. Arrange for a safe ride home in advance, and if someone is impaired, don't allow them to drive. If you're driving a car, always wear a seat belt, because that is your first defense against impaired drivers. If conditions on the road are changing, you need to adjust your driving by reducing your speed, increasing your following distance, and only changing lanes when necessary. If there is a storm, avoid driving in it, and instead find a safe place off the road and wait for visibility to improve. It is also important to avoid distractions and stay alert. Take necessary breaks to combat fatigue, and be mindful of any hidden, like icy overpasses and bridges in winter, hills, stoplights, signs, and sharp curves.
