Idaho State Police investigate I-84 off-ramp crash in Nampa that sent driver to hospital

A crash on Interstate 84 in Nampa blocked westbound traffic for about an hour and a half early Sunday as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. Idaho State Police said they are investigating a vehicle collision that happened at about 5:48 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the westbound off-ramp at the Karcher Road exit on I-84 in Nampa. Police said a Mazda 5 traveling westbound on I-84 collided with a Volvo truck-tractor pulling a Great Dane trailer. The Mazda driver, a 23-year-old man from Ontario, Oregon, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The Volvo driver, a 54-year-old man from Beaverton, Oregon, was not transported. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, police said. Westbound lanes on I-84 were blocked for approximately one and a half hours. Idaho State Police said the Nampa Police Department, Nampa Fire Department, and Canyon County Paramedics assisted them. The crash remains under investigation.
