I-88 eastbound closed after car hits construction truck

A chain-reaction crash on I-88 in Schoharie shut down the eastbound lanes Friday before the highway reopened. New York State Police said troopers responded at about 7 a.m. June 5, 2026, after a car hit a parked construction truck on I-88 eastbound. Three people in the car had injuries, but only two were taken for further evaluation. The injuries were believed to be minor. Police said a secondary two-car crash happened as drivers reacted to the initial crash. No injuries were reported in that second crash. I-88 eastbound was closed and traffic was diverted off Exit 22, but the roadway has since reopened. Police said no workers were present at the construction site at the time of the crash.
