I-80 in Placer County closed after crash involving big rigs, multiple other vehicles

Interstate 80 in Placer County is closed after a crash with multiple vehicles, including big rigs Monday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.The crash involving at least two big rigs and four to five other vehicles happened around 1:50 p.m. at westbound I-80 at Drum Forebay Road, CHP said. There are at least two people with major injuries and multiple others with minor injuries. However, because the crash is in its early stages, that information could change.CHP said there is also a significant diesel leak because of the crash and that westbound traffic is being turned around at Nyack. According to Caltrans maps, traffic is being impacted from Emigrant to Forebay.Preliminary reports indicate that a big rig during the crash went off the road and over an embankment.The cause of the crash is not known, and the ages and genders of those injured are not known.
