I-79 partially closed due to multi-car accident
As of 1:06 p.m. on January 22, 2026, West Virginia 511 has announced that one lane of Interstate 79 in Monongalia County has been reopened after an earlier crash had necessitated the closure of the road for approximately eight hours. The incident occurred around 4:41 a.m. near exit Goshen Road at mile marker 146. Emergency responders were on the scene, and although most of I-79 has resumed operation, a small section remains closed.
