I-670 through downtown KC reopens after deadly crash Sunday morning
I-670 near Locust Street is back open Sunday morning after a deadly crash shut all southbound lanes of the highway down for four hours. The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department responded just after 2:45 a.m.KCPD said a Kia Optima was eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-670 while crossing all lanes of traffic.The Kia was hit by a Chevy Avalanche that was westbound on I-670.The driver of the Chevy and the driver of the Kia both weren't hurt in the crash. One passenger in the Kia died at the hospital and two other passengers have life threatening injuries. KCPD said both are in critical condition.KCPD said the investigation is ongoing, including into the suspected impairment of both drivers.
