I-270 shut down after fatal crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Interstate 270 was shut down north of Easton for hours Saturday after a fatal crash. Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said a white 2019 BMW X3 A3 was traveling southbound on I-270 and approaching State Route 161 at a high speed. Baldwin said the crash occurred 10:07 a.m. near Blendon Township. Baldwin said the BMW lost control and slid off the west side of I-270, striking a wall and a concrete sign support before rolling and coming to a stop on its side and roof. Baldwin said the driver was the sole occupant of the BMW and was transported to a nearby hospital. The driver was pronounced dead at 10:41 a.m. at the hospital. All lanes on I-270 southbound were shut down as of 1:35 p.m. Baldwin said crews were working to reopen the highway.
