I-15 Lanes Blocked by Multi-Vehicle Collision in Escondido

A collision involving a minimum of five vehicles caused the closure of several lanes on Interstate 15 in Escondido early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred before 5:30 a.m. on southbound I-15 near Via Rancho Parkway, as per the California Highway Patrol. While the cause of the crash was not initially disclosed, CHP officials confirmed the involvement of five cars. As a result of the emergency response, three lanes had to be closed. The Del Lago HOV on-ramp to southbound I-15 was also temporarily closed but later reopened by 7:10 a.m., according to Caltrans. Motorists were advised to take an alternate route by exiting southbound I-15 at W. Valley Parkway, then proceeding onto Del Dios Road and W. Via Rancho to re-enter southbound I-15.
