Houston suspect charged in fatal crash and carjackings

A suspect in Houston is facing multiple charges following a tragic event that took place on Friday. According to police, Jason Arvin Velasquez, 30, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter, failure to stop and render aid causing death, and several counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The incident resulted in the death of Jessica Daughtery, 42, who was driving a Nissan Altima that was struck by Velasquez while he was driving northbound on the I-45 Gulf Freeway. Following the crash, Velasquez reportedly brandished a gun and carjacked multiple vehicles, eventually being arrested by authorities after attempting to steal another vehicle at gunpoint. Witnesses claimed Velasquez had been involved in several minor collisions and had driven in the wrong direction on the freeway prior to the fatal crash.
