Homicide by vehicle charges filed after Sunday night crash on US-11 near Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG- After a major crash on Molly Pitcher Highway in Southampton Township over the weekend, one person is dead and another is charged with their death. Megan Marie Oliphant was denied bail due to charges filed against her of felony homicide by vehicle, felony aggravated assault by vehicle, and three citations for vehicle turning left, turning movements and required signals, and careless driving resulting in unintentional death. She remains incarcerated in the Franklin County Jail. Just after 9:45pm on May 24th, Pennsylvania State Police were called to a vehicle crash at the intersection of Mount Rock Road and Molly Pitcher Highway in Southampton Township. Troopers found a red Dodge Nitro off the side of the road that had its passenger being extricated when they arrived. The second car, however, was slightly up the road and crashed into a tree. Troopers say that, after speaking with multiple witnesses, the Dodge was sitting in the middle of the road way in an attempt to turn. That is when a vehicle coming from the north allegedly continued straight, but the Dodge turned directly into the victim's BMW.
