Hit-and-run leaves car burning on 101 Freeway in downtown L.A.
A car was left in flames as a hit-and-run crash forced a temporary closure of the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles overnight. The two-vehicle collision was reported around 1:30 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway near Alameda Street. Video from the scene showed one of the vehicles erupting in flames following the crash. The driver of the burning Honda was able to safely exit the vehicle and was not injured, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson told KTLA. The second vehicle, described as a truck, fled the scene after the crash. No further information about the vehicle or its driver was immediately available. Los Angeles Fire Department crews were seen dousing the flames as traffic came to a standstill behind the burning vehicle. The freeway was reopened shortly after 2 a.m.
