Highway 50 in El Dorado County was shut down in both directions on Friday afternoon due to a head-on collision, as reported by Caltrans. The incident occurred at around 12:15 p.m. near Kyburz and involved three vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol. One of the vehicles crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with two others traveling in the opposite direction. A medical helicopter was called to the scene, and one person was hospitalized with serious injuries. Authorities have indicated that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The lanes were cleared and reopened shortly before 2:30 p.m., confirmed CHP.
