High-speed Anniston crash kills driver, damages traffic light
A single-vehicle crash in Anniston killed a man and damaged traffic signal lights at the intersection of Hubb Street and McClellan Boulevard. 33-year-old Tevin Riggs, of Ohatchee, died after his car hit one of the traffic light poles at over 100 MPH, shifting it and damaging the anchoring bolts. Emergency officials pronounced Riggs dead on the scene shortly after 2 a.m. Since that pole was state-maintained, it won't be fixed until the appropriate state crews can come out to repair it. The City of Anniston is warning residents that that may take some time. Crews sectioned off the area with cones. As of now, cross traffic is still flowing. The City is encouraging divers to use caution while driving, slow down and avoid the intersection if possible.
