High school wrestling team from Grand Junction involved in Lakewood crash

A bus carrying a wrestling team from a high school in Grand Junction was involved in a crash in Lakewood on Saturday night, leading to 14 people, including students and coaches, being hospitalized. The incident occurred near U.S. 6 and Kipling Street, with Kipling Street being closed for several hours afterwards. The Mesa County Valley School District 51 confirmed that students and coaches from Central High School were aboard the bus. Emergency responders swiftly provided aid to those involved, with a total of 14 individuals being taken to hospitals - four from the other vehicle involved and 10 from the bus. Among the injured, eight students and two coaches required hospitalization. The school district indicated that there were a total of 13 students and two coaches on the bus, with three students and one coach still receiving medical care as of Sunday afternoon. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Lakewood Police Department.
