Helicopter lands on I-95 in Howard County following crash; 1 hospitalized
HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- All lanes on Interstate 95 South were closed after two trucks collided in Howard County on Friday, sending one person to the hospital. The crash happened near mile marker 41 in the Waterloo area. Maryland State Police told DC News Now that troopers received the call around 9:24 a.m. and responded to the crash. A preliminary investigation indicated that a box truck had struck the back of a tractor-trailer. Details are limited; however, a traffic camera showed multiple first responders blocking off the highway as a helicopter landed on the highway. Traffic was also backed up for more than two miles. One person was flown to the hospital, and the extent of their injuries is unknown. In an update around 10:41 a.m., two right lanes opened, allowing traffic to pass by the crash site. This is a developing story.
