Helicopter crashes into building in Boynton Beach; 2 killed
Authorities with the Boynton Beach Police Department and Boynton Beach Fire Rescue are investigating a deadly helicopter crash in Boynton Beach.It happened near the Monterey Community, near the 3800 block of Congress Avenue. Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Matt Oxendine said during a press conference on Monday afternoon that it, along with the police department, received a call about the crash at 12:24 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found one small helicopter inside one of the buildings that had crashed through the roof.There were no survivors.The scene was secured by first responders. Oxendine said it is waiting for the Federal Aviation Administration to arrive at the scene to begin its investigation into the crash.The FAA released the following statement to WPBF 25 News on Monday afternoon:"A Robinson R44 helicopter crashed into a building in Boynton Beach, Florida, around 12:30 p.m. local time on Monday, March 23. Two people were on board. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate. The NTSB will lead the investigation and will provide further updates."At the time of the crash, the warehouse was vacant; there were workers, but not inside.Oxendine said there was no smoke, fire or fuel spill with the crash.
