Head-on crash kills man, seriously injures two people in Lansing
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — An 81-year-old Dimondale man was killed and two other people were seriously injured when a van and a sports car crashed head-on near Dimondale on Tuesday. According to a social media post by Michigan State Police First District, troopers from the Lansing Post were sent to the area of Bishop Highway near Creyts Road at around 10:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a two-vehicle crash. Following a preliminary investigation, police say it is believed that a 2013 Ford Econoline van, driven by the 81-year-old man, was headed westbound on Bishop Highway when it crossed the centerline and crashed into a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro driven by a 41-year-old Lansing man. Police say the 81-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the van, an 80-year-old Dimondale resident, and the 41-year-old man were seriously injured and were taken to the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow in Lansing for treatment. Police say that it is unknown whether alcohol, drugs or a medical emergency were factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
