Hancock Co.: Fishers man dead after being struck by vehicle

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. -- A Fishers man was killed after he was reportedly struck by a vehicle northeast of Greenfield on Tuesday night. According to a news release from the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to the 755 block of West County Road 300 North at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday on a report of a crash. This location is near the intersection of County Road 100 West and County Road 300 North in Hancock County. Officials said after deputies arrived on the scene, the Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team was called to respond due to the severity of the crash. The release said that 25-year-old Jaden Pelton was reportedly crossing County Road 300 North when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old from Greenfield. The vehicle was traveling west on County Road 300 North. Pelton was pronounced dead on the scene after life-saving measures were made. The driver reportedly stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The release said that drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor. At the time, County Road 300 North was closed for around three hours while the Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team investigated the incident. The release said the investigation is ongoing.
