Funeral arrangements for Forsyth Co. Sheriff Deputy Kaleb Mitchell after deadly crash
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office announced funeral details for fallen Deputy Kaleb Mitchell after he was killed in a crash on Saturday, March 7. "The death of Deputy Kaleb Mitchell is an unexpected and heartbreaking tragedy for both the Mitchell family and our FCSO Family. We sincerely appreciate the heartfelt condolences everyone has sent to the Mitchell family and the FCSO as you join us in honoring all that Deputy Kaleb Mitchell meant to us and our community," the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS Visitation and funeral services will be held at Woodland Baptist Church, located at 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Road in Winston-Salem. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, March 16, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m. and ending promptly at 1:30 p.m. • The Homegoing Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. • The FCSO is asking anyone attending the Homegoing Service to please not arrive at the church prior to 12:00 p.m.• Due to limited parking the FCSO is requesting attendees carpool as much as possible. • Condolences may be sent to Burroughs Funeral Home located at 1382 Highway 65 West, Walnut Cove, NC 27052According to the Sheriff's Office, Deputy Kaleb Mitchell died in a crash while "serving and protecting." The community has been mourning the loss of the deputy ever since.“The pain this line of duty death has caused is something no man can heal; but trust in God and love is something no man can steal. Knowing that God heals all wounds and gives peace to all gets us through these difficult times,” Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr. said.On March 9, the man arrested and charged in connection with the crash that claimed the life of Deputy Mitchell appeared before a judge. Bryan Castillo, 19, of Winston-Salem, was charged with second-degree murder, reckless driving, speeding, and driving left out of center. In court, a judge said Castillo could face life behind bars without parole if convicted of the highest extent of his charges.Related Articles
