Friends remember JohnLuc Jubert, killed in fatal car crash
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Police have identified the person killed after an accident involving four vehicles occurred on Route 33 Thursday night. Officers responded to the Kensington Expressway at Locust Street around 11:40 p.m. One driver was taken to ECMC with serious injuries and later died, police said. That driver was later identified as 30-year-old JohnLuc Jubert of Buffalo. Friends of Jubert spoke with WIVB News 4 following the news. "It was devastating," said Emmalee Cinotti. "It really shook me to the core because you shouldn't have to lose one of your best friends from college when you're so young." Cinotti met Jubert while attending Canisius University. She described him as a bright light. "He always could make anyone laugh," said Cinotti. "He had this incredible energy and spirit to him. He was just so positive." Other friends echoed those claims. "At first glance JohnLuc seemed maybe a little shy," said Geo Kowalow. "As soon as he got comfortable, he was the funniest person in the room." Jubert leaves behind his parents and two siblings. Cinotti said they were a very tight-knit family. "His family is so down to earth, and they loved him so much," said Cinotti. "My heart breaks for them." Jubert studied accounting, but after college, he followed his passion for music. He was a DJ and often created his own sound. "We became so close that we pretty much did all of our musical endeavors together," said Kowalow. "He didn't need much teaching, to be honest. He was a quick learner." Friends said his unique, creative spirit made him unforgettable, and that's what they'll miss the most. "Every time I played a track, I'd see his eyes light up and he'd instantly connect with it," said Matthew Madden, one of Jubert's close friends. "Simply being around him always brought joy, warmth and laughter." A GoFundMe has been started to help Jubert's family during this tough time. If you'd like to donate, you can do so here.
