Former Deputy Sheriff of Cascade County dies in 'fatal ranching incident'
It is with heavy hearts that the Cascade County Sheriff's Office shared the news of the unexpected passing of former Corporal Jay Groskreutz at the age of 54. Jay tragically lost his life to injuries sustained in a ranching accident, with his cause of death deemed as traumatic asphyxia. Jay dedicated over 23 years of service to the CCSO, serving on roles including the SWAT Team, Court Security Team, and Search and Rescue, before retiring in October 2023. Remembered as a unique individual with a deep love for family and the outdoors, the agency expressed their sympathy for his loved ones.
