Fiery Tesla crash on NB I-280 in Daly City blocks lanes

DALY CITY, Calif. (KRON) -- Two northbound lanes of Interstate 280 in Daly City remain shut down Tuesday morning as emergency crews respond to an overturned Tesla that caught fire, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred just before 6 a.m. near the Serramonte Center, a CHP incident log shows. A Tesla caught fire after crashing and flipping, which created a hazard for other motorists, according to authorities. All lanes in the northbound direction were closed by 6:34 a.m. before two right lanes reopened around 8:40 a.m. It is unknown if wet roadway conditions were a factor in the crash. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. There is no estimated time for the freeway to reopen.
