Fiery Orange County freeway crash leaves person dead; DUI may be factor
A person died on Friday night after a crash on the 5 Freeway in Orange County, and investigators are looking into whether impairment played a role. According to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson, the crash was reported on the southbound span of the 5 near Alicia Parkway in Laguna Hills around 10:30 p.m. “A vehicle spun out and burst into flames,” the CHP spokesperson said. “Fire crews responded and extinguished the blaze shortly after arriving on scene.” The spokesperson added that a second vehicle may have possibly been involved and that investigators were looking into whether impairment played a role in the crash. There were no details on the identity of the decedent. In the wake of the collision, a SigAlert was issued and multiple lanes were shut down for approximately two hours.
